Be aware that there is a significant difference between the reviews and recommendations on this blog. Just because I review a book, TV show, or movie does not mean I recommend it. I am simply analyzing the work and giving my honest opinion of it, as well as providing key points such as the plot summary, age appropriateness (if the reader should choose to read or watch it), and anything else that's noteworthy.
It's difficult to find a TV show the whole family will enjoy watching. Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye is one of those few shows! Starring Deanne Bray, Yannick Bisson, and Rick Peters, this crime show is based on Sue Thomas, the first deaf person to work undercover at the FBI. The three season TV series (2003-2005) has a huge following and I'm excited to give a review of it.
Plot Summary
Sue Thomas is disgusted when she applies to work at the FBI and they assign her to fingerprinting just because she's deaf. However, when Special Agent Jack Hudson learns of her ability to read lips, he convinces his supervisor to let her work in their unit. She becomes an investigator and becomes a valuable asset to the team. The team is made up of:
Together they combat crime in Washington, D.C. and solve all different types of cases, from terrorism to bank robbery to drug smuggling.
- Special Agent Jack Hudson - the unit's leader
- Special Agent Bobby Manning - explosives expert and Jack's best friend
- Special Agent Demetrius "D" Gans - the oldest agent in terms of age and experience
- Special Agent Myles Leland III - a normal, though arrogant, agent
- Lucy Dotson - office manager, team rotor, and Sue's best friend
- Special Agent Tara Samuel - computer expert
- Levi - Sue's hearing dog

Pros and Cons
The characters have great chemisty and each have a quirky, distinct personality. The writers did a good job balancing humor and suspense. Some faith-based content is woven in but it's not preachy. The storytelling is superb without using dirty content. There is no swearing, sex/nudity, or gore. Dead bodies are occasionally shown, but they're not grotesque or bloody in any way.
A few of the episodes are centered around serial killers and are more intense than the rest of the show. Parents may prefer to skip these. The episodes are: The Sniper, The Hunter, and Simon Says.
