Be aware that there is a significant difference between the reviews and recommendations on this blog. Just because I review a book, TV show, or movie does not mean I recommend it. I am simply analyzing the work and giving my honest opinion of it, as well as providing key points such as the plot summary, age appropriateness (if the reader should choose to read or watch it), and anything else that's noteworthy.
I typically don't read YA fiction, but when a friend of mine recommended Love & Other Great Expectations by Becky Dean, I decided to give it a shot. I did not expect a witty, laugh-out-loud, fun romance. Even those who may not care for YA will enjoy this book.
Plot Summary
After Britt Hanson finds out she can never play soccer again, she's presented with an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win $100,000. All she has to do is accept a chaperoned, all expenses paid trip to England and complete a scavenger hunt based on literature.
She jumps into the hunt with both feet and on one of her stops meets a nerdy British guy named Luke. Since her chaperone is his cousin, she invites him to tag along with them. As they explore the UK and race against the other players, Britt is forced to face circumstances from her past and decide how she wants to live life ... and who she wants to live it with.

Pros and Cons
This book was squeaky clean and yet very entertaining! Britt made me laugh so much and Luke balanced her out. Seeing them together was fun. There were lots of British elements to the story and while the clues weren't that hard to follow, what happened at the various sites was interesting. Overall, it was a fun, lighthearted, quick read.

Notes
This book is best for teens and adults.

I don’t read a lot of YA books either, but read this one because a trusted friend recommended it. It was hilarious! I really liked Luke and how he balanced out Britt’s crazy personality! I also enjoyed Hearts Overboard by the same author.
