Some Like It Scot - Book Review

Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham is a lighthearted read full of humor, romance, and lots of Scottish fun! Those who love Pepper Basham's works with adore this standalone novel that features misadventures, a sunshine-grump trope, and a sweet but subtle message.

Plot Summary

Katie Campbell, a travel writer known for her misadventures, finds herself in Scotland to write about an immersive Edwardian experience held in an old manor house. On her first day, she literally drops into the life of Graeme MacKerrow, a grumpy Scot who has no interest in a wandering American.

However, the wandering lifestyle is starting to wear on Katie, and as she seizes the opportunity to learn more about her Scottish roots, she grows aware of her lack of belonging and begins to yearn for a home of her own ... and someone to share it with. Could a grumpy Scot be the answer to that longing?

Pros and Cons

This book was 100% clean and highly entertaining. Humor was prevalent and all of Katie's misadventures had me in stitches. The message in the story was subtle and not preachy. Overall, it was an excellent book that people will want to read over and over again.

I thought this book was really fun and sweet! Katie fell into some funny situations and I loved how Graeme eventually decided to embrace the role of her rescuer! :)
